Aisha’s Journey: From TB Diagnosis to Recovery
Aisha is a 48-year-old housewife and mother of six children living in Kaduna State. On December 28th, 2023, she was taken unconscious to Manaal Specialist Hospital in Kaduna North LGA. She had been experiencing symptoms such as night sweats, difficulty in breathing, fever, weight loss, and nausea. After being clinically diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB), she was immediately placed on medication on December 29th, 2023. Before starting her treatment, Aisha had taken several cough syrups, pain relief, antibiotics, and cold relief tablets, which had all proven ineffective in her recovery process.
Now, Aisha reports that she is in good health condition and visits the hospital every 14 days to receive her medication, a task she was unable to undertake initially. Before treatment, Aisha weighed 47kg. As of February 23, 2024, her weight has increased to 54kg. She is thankful to God for life and the quick recovery, and to the entire USAID and KNCV team for providing free treatment, testing, checkups, contact tracing, and sensitization to her and her family.
