Competency Based Training (CBT)

KNCV Nigeria targeted and conducted the competency based training for 1,684 ad hoc staff in 14 states including screening officers, laboratory staff, data entry officers. At the end of September 2023, we had successfully registered, enrolled and completed 5 modules which equals 1,431 HCWs and laboratory staff across the TB LON 1 & 2 project with a completion rate of 85%. This year, KNCV looks forward to sustaining the CBT to 1,000 more ad-hoc staff across 14 states of Nigeria and conduct refresher courses too. 

 

Early Warning Outbreak Recognition System (EWORS)

Through EWORS, KNCV identifies potential TB outbreaks in different wards. Prioritizing hotspot analytics as a means of achieving a higher yield of TB from community case-finding interventions is effective & recommended. This strategy is crucial to finding the missing TB cases and improving treatment coverage, especially in resource-constrained settings.

 

Portable Digital X-Ray

Through this easier to carry mobile X-Ray machine with AI CAD4TB, KNCV successfully screened 36,235 people, with the following results:

  • Presumptive identified: 3,136 
  • Presumptive tested: 3,136
  • TB cases diagnosed: 687 (21.9%)
  • TB cases started on Tx: 683

 

Digitized X-Ray Reporting App XMAP

Through this innovation, we achieved real reporting to optimize clinical diagnosis in a seamless and very easy to use manner. In the second month of 2024, XMAP dashboard reported 22,335 requests and 22,521 reports. 

 

Wellness on Keke (WOK)

One of the most innovative approaches used in case finding and vaccination reach was a reconstructed “wellness on keke” (WOK), used to navigate hard-to-reach areas. The WOK is equipped with TB diagnostic equipment that delivers comprehensive integrated services including vaccination, TB screening, and Blood Pressure checks. The project also recorded capacity building as an integral part of target attainment. This was carried out using traditional classroom methods and computer-based training to ensure continuous learning for the mobile team.
